Dekton, made by Cosentino, is a fundamentally different category of surface: an ultracompact material created through Sinterized Particle Technology, which compresses raw minerals under roughly 25,000 tons of pressure to mimic — and accelerate — the same metamorphic process that forms natural stone over thousands of years, done in a matter of hours. The result is a surface with essentially zero porosity and exceptional resistance to heat, UV, and scratching, making it one of the few countertop materials genuinely suited to uncovered outdoor use. Because the sintering process eliminates resin altogether, Dekton also won't off-gas or discolor the way resin-bound surfaces can after years of direct sun exposure.
