What It Is

Where remnants comes from.

Remnants are exactly what they sound like: the leftover pieces from a larger slab after a kitchen countertop project is cut. Because a full slab (roughly 9×5 feet) rarely divides evenly into a kitchen layout, fabricators are typically left with sizable offcuts — often more than enough for a vanity, a laundry counter, or a small bar top — in the exact same premium granite, quartz, marble, or quartzite as the full-size projects.

Durability

How it holds up.

A remnant carries the exact same physical properties as its source material — a granite remnant is exactly as hard and heat-resistant as a granite slab bought new, because it is the same stone. The only real difference is size and availability: remnant inventory changes as jobs are completed, so selection is first-come, first-served.

Care & maintenance: Care and maintenance follow whatever the underlying material calls for — granite remnants get sealed annually, quartz remnants need no sealing, and so on. We'll walk you through the specifics for whatever remnant you choose.
Weighing It Up

Pros & cons.

What we love

  • Same premium materials at a fraction of full-slab pricing
  • Ideal size for vanities, laundry counters, and small bar tops
  • Same expert fabrication and installation as any other project
  • Often available for faster turnaround than a full custom order

Worth knowing

  • Limited, rotating selection — what's available changes often
  • Not ideal for large kitchen islands or long runs
  • Matching a remnant to an existing countertop elsewhere in your home isn't guaranteed
  • First come, first served — popular colors move quickly
Common Questions

Remnants FAQ.

Are remnants lower quality than a full slab?
No — a remnant is simply a smaller piece cut from the same slab as a full kitchen project. The stone itself, and its durability, is identical.
What projects work best with remnants?
Bathroom vanities, laundry room counters, small bar tops, and other compact surfaces are the classic fit, since they typically need less material than a full kitchen.
How do I know what remnants are currently available?
Remnant inventory turns over as projects are completed, so the best way to know what's on hand is to call or visit — we can also let you know if something matching your project comes in.
